Chinese ink and brush painting on rice paper, backed in the traditional hot press manner
13 ¼" x 13 ¼"; matted & framed: 19 ½" x 19 ½"
I have been studying Chinese brush painting with Mr. Qinlong Ma, whose studio is in Waltham MA. Mr. Ma works on high quality rice paper with traditional ink, pigments and brushes. His practice includes traditional and contemporary techniques, such as pouring pigments in a water bath and dipping paper to adhere the colors to it. Once dry, the artist paints a composition that is inspired by that pour. My painting, which was exhibited in the Chinese Painting Guild's Annual Show in 2020, uses traditional techniques although I have used contemporary techniques in my other paintings in this medium.
