Oil painting — a wet medium — is a new medium for me. It is a technically challenging medium with tremendous creative potential. The remarkable visual effects the artist can obtain by layering colors has been used by artists worldwide for centuries. For landscape painters, painting waves and water is notoriously difficult because of the effect of sunlight on a fluid structure. The same is true for clouds. I enjoyed using my oil paints to recreate and represent the exuberant motions of the sea and the crashing waves on a two dimensional space, as you see in this painting and the other oil paintings in this section.
