Like many artists, I am intrigued by chairs. They hold the human figure in various levels of comfort and grandeur. They are also symbols of cultural status and the materials and techniques available to the makers (craftsmen and otherwise) at a particular time in history. Like the human figure, they are challenging to represent on a two-dimensional plane.
