This is the view of the window from the print studio at Mass Art, where I spent many hours working on my prints. What interested me was the venting in the studio -- the lines, mass and flow of the pipes on the brick wall -- and the contrast they present to the glass of the window and the man-made structures beyond the wall. The inside lighting made the images in the room much clearer and easy to discern in detail. The window glass and the outside lighting distorted the structures outside. This piece attempts to capture that difference using copper plate line etching for the inside of the wall and other less precise etching techniques for the outside structures. This piece is a nice illustration of the distinctive images that can be created with different print-making techniques as opposed to other two-dimensional drawing or painting techniques.
